The 20-team event begins on Thursday morning with Australia playing Costa Rica and Scotland playing Slovakia. The United States opens up against defending world champion Canada on Thursday night at 7:30 local time (10:30 pm Eastern).

Canada has won each of the previous four World Indoor Lacrosse Championships (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015) with the Iroquois Nationals taking silver each time. The United States has won bronze at all four championships..

Regy Thorpe, the captain of the 2007 U.S. team and the general manager/head coach for the National Lacrosse League’s New York Riptide, will be the head coach for the U.S. team, which is one of the most experienced box teams the country has ever fielded. Sixteen of the 23 players on the U.S. roster played in the NLL in the 2018-19 season.

After playing Canada on opening night, the U.S. will continue its pool play schedule against Israel (Sept. 20), Iroquois (Sept. 21) and England (Sept. 23).
