Warrior/USL High School Boys' Players of the Week (June 5)

Austin Blumbergs, Jeffrey Conner and Quinn Callahan were named Warrior/US Lacrosse HSB Players of the Week.


The Warrior/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys' lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Northeast

Austin Blumbergs, Penn Yan (N.Y.) 

Blumbergs scored with 50.9 seconds left in overtime to lift Penn Yan to a 12-11 win over Akron (N.Y.) in the Class C state quarterfinals. Penn Yan rallied from a six-goal deficit to send the game to overtime, and Blumbergs finished with three goals and four assists. He also had two goals to help Penn Yan secure an 8-6 win over Aquinas (N.Y.) in the Section V Class D title game. Penn Yan has now won 21 sectional titles in the last 22 years. He has 45 goals and 24 assists this season. Blumbergs is headed to St. Bonaventure.

Mid-Atlantic

Jeffrey Conner, Strath Haven (Pa.) 

With the Panthers needing an insurance goal against Springfield-Delco (Pa.) in the PIAA 2A quarterfinals, it was Conner who got the ball and scored his third goal of the game to lead his team to a 12-9 victory. Conner is in the midst of his best season, scoring 146 points on 90 goals and 56 assists.

Midwest

Quinn Callahan, Loyola Academy (Ill.) 

The senior stepped up to help Loyola Academy win a state title on Saturday. Callahan scored three times against Naperville North (Ill.) in the state semifinals and then managed to match that effort in a 7-2 win over New Trier (Ill.) in the final.
