Carli Fleisher Named USA Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Year


Carli Fleisher, a Northwestern-bound attacker from American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), is the USA Lacrosse Magazine National High School Girls’ Player of the Year, the publication announced Monday.

Fleisher the Sun Sentinel lacrosse player of the year, led American Heritage-Delray to the No. 4 ranking in the South Region and an 18-3 record. Named to the second wave of 11 girls who have been selected to compete in the 17th-annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game, Fleisher transferred from Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) for this season and was an instant leader for the Stallions.

According to Max Preps, Fleisher had 62 goals and 58 assists in her senior season.

Fleisher, the class of the South Region, is joined by four others across the country earning recognition.

Kaleigh Harden, a senior midfielder from New Canaan (Conn.) is the Northeast Player of the Year. A North Carolina commit, Harden is also an accomplished ice hockey player with a knack for finding the back of the net. She also comes up clutch on the draw. She won seven draws in the CIAC Class L final, a victory for New Canaan over rival Darien.

The Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year is junior midfielder Natalie Shurtleff, a St. Paul’s star committed to Clemson. Shurtleff scored five goals in her team’s IAAM A Conference championship game victory over Glenelg Country (Md.).

Camryn Callaghan, an Upper Arlington (Ohio) attacker and midfielder, is the Midwest Player of the Year after producing 98 goals (on 121 shots) with 32 assists. She is committed to Cincinnati.

Elena Torres, an attacker and midfielder from Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.), is the West Player of the Year. Torres had 103 points (76 goals, 27 assists) and scored five goals in the Knights’ championship game win over Santa Margarita. Torres will play at Villanova in the fall.
