Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Wednesday, May 25

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Let’s end the stigma surrounding mental health.

USA Lacrosse and Athletes Unlimited are teaming up in hopes of doing just that. An exhibition game between the U.S. women’s national team and AU on June 8 will be dedicated to mental health awareness and will spotlight the efforts of Morgan’s Message.

Morgan’s Message was created by the family and former teammates of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke University lacrosse student-athlete who died tragically in July 2019 after battling mental health struggles.

2. McDonogh’s big win earned the Eagles a jump in the national ranking.

McDonogh knocked off three straight higher seeded opponents to capture the MIAA “A” Conference championship, leading to the No. 6 ranking in this week’s Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25.

St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes (Va.), the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I champion, earned a spot in the ranking this week at No. 25.

More here.

3. There was little movement in the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25.

The top 15 of the top 16 teams remained in the same places as a week ago. Comsewogue (N.Y.) and Summit (N.J.) both entered the ranks for the first time, and both Severna Park (Md.) and Oak Knoll (N.J.) rose two spots.

More here.

4. The men’s transfer portal is already heating up.

Less than a week after news broke that former Syracuse attackman Tucker Dordevic was transferring to Georgetown, former Georgetown attackman Dylan Watson will be transferring to Jacksonville.

John Galloway’s Dolphins always seem to have a good mix of talent grown in the program and talent from the outside.
