Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Denver gets defensive.

Denver’s defense is always lights out, but the Pioneers are playing on an even better level in 2023. On Sunday, Denver beat Maryland in women’s lacrosse for the first time in school history, an 8-7 victory. Kenny DeJohn looks at Denver and more in The Sunday Slide.

2. The Hoyas are off the canvas.

Georgetown’s 0-3 start was surprising given the Hoyas high expectations, but not shocking given the tough schedule. The Hoyas began to right the ship with a big win at Princeton on Saturday. That game leads off our look at the men’s lacrosse weekend in The Post-Week Tailgate.

3. Championship feel to North Carolina.

North Carolina lost a lot from its 2022 NCAA championship team, but the Tar Heels looked like they’ve hardly lost a beat in a 16-5 win over Boston College in a rematch of last year’s NCAA women’s championship game that gave Jenny Levy her 400^th career coaching victory.

4. Notre Dame keeps streaking.

Notre Dame and Maryland staged a classic that felt like a Memorial Day Weekend game in College Park. Pat Kavanagh delivered the game-winner for the Irish in triple overtime and Notre Dame continues to feed off of last year's NCAA snub.

5. Indoor lacrosse goes outdoors.

San Diego will host this year’s World Lacrosse Men’s Championship at Snapdragon Stadium. On Saturday, the venue got a look at a different form of the sport as the San Diego Seals topped Las Vegas in the NLL’s first outdoor game.
