Maryland's Erica Evans wins Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week

Erica Evans has been an important piece of Maryland’s offense in her first season as a graduate student after playing three years for Canisius — where she set the school’s all-time goal scoring record. She has scored in every one of the Terps’ games this season and now sits in a tie with Jen Giles with a team-high 53 goals.

But she’s been on a tear ever since the calendar turned to April. She has multiple goals in eight straight games and is averaging 4.3 goals per game in her last six contests.
Evans was strong again on Sunday, scoring five goals and adding two assists to help Maryland claw out of an early hole and cruise to a 17-8 NCAA tournament win over Stony Brook at College Park.

With the Terps up 7-6, Evans scored four straight goals to add breathing room and help her team take the momentum into halftime. For her efforts, she earns Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.

The Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, selected by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, recognizes the top performers in Division I women’s lacrosse throughout the season.
