Johns Hopkins' Gerald Logan Named Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week

We knew Johns Hopkins could score, but would its defense hold up? And could Michigan transfer Gerald Logan take command in the cage?

Consider those questions answered.

Logan, whose 16 saves kept defending NCAA champion North Carolina at bay in the Blue Jays’ 13-5 road victory Saturday, is the Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.

It’s not the first player of the week honor for Logan. We billed him as “the best goalie you’ve never heard of” last February following his 15-save performance in the Wolverines’ win over Colgate.

Logan, a graduate student who ranked in the NCAA’s top 10 in saves per game in three different seasons at Michigan, beat out incumbent Brock Turnbaugh for the starting job at Homewood. With a 7.54 goals against average and a 54.7 save percentage in four starts, he is a big reason Johns Hopkins is 4-0 and ranked No. 3 in the country.
