With a team-high five points, scoring three goals on three shots while adding three ground balls and one caused turnover, senior midfielder Kyle McClancy leads Albany past Denver 15-13 for its first-ever trip to championship weekend.
For his performance, he earns Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.
McClancy recorded his first points on back-to-back assists to end the second quarter for 7-5 halftime lead and then start the third quarter to make it 8-5.
After Denver knotted it at nine with 3:55 remaining in the third, McClancy scored the go-ahead goal just 11 seconds later.
In the final five minutes of the game, he scored Albany’s last two goals in the midst of a three-goal run, which proved to be the go-ahead and eventual game-winners. McClancy goals’ gave Albany the lead it needed to run out with the win despite Denver’s last-minute two goals.
