Notre Dame Adds Yale Transfers Chris Fake, Brian Tevlin to Arsenal

Four-time All-American defenseman Chris Fake, who anchored Yale's defense when it won an NCAA championship in 2018, is headed to South Bend.

Four-time All-American defenseman Chris Fake and two-time Yale captain Brian Tevlin are transferring to Notre Dame, Bulldogs coach Andy Shay confirmed Saturday with USA Lacrosse Magazine. Yale attackman Thomas Bragg tweeted the news Friday.

Fake further fortifies a Fighting Irish defense that also added Holy Cross transfer Chris Conlin, who led the nation in caused turnovers per game in 2020 and 2021 and ranked second in 2022. Fake was a USILA second-team All-American as a freshman in 2018, anchoring the defense for Yale’s NCAA championship team. He went on to earn second-team honors in 2019 and 2020 (Inside Lacrosse) and third-team honors in 2022.

Tevlin was a USILA honorable mention All-American as a two-way midfielder this year, finishing with 13 goals, 13 assists, 39 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Both Fake and Tevlin withdrew from school in 2021 to preserve their eligibility when the Ivy League shut down the season. They are graduate transfers.

Notre Dame is coming off an 8-4 season in which it finished eighth in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20 but missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005.
