Talk about a career day.

Coming into Notre Dame’s game against Syracuse last weekend, Jake Taylor had scored just three career goals. He didn’t score as a freshman in 2020, scored once in 2021 and had two against Detroit Mercy on February 19. Against Syracuse — actually his first action since February 19 — the attackman scored a program record eight goals in a 22-6 rout. He needed just 10 shots to do so.

Taylor is the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men’s Player of the Week.

The No. 31 player in the Class of 2019 according to Inside Lacrosse, Taylor’s 2021 season was lost after two games due to a season-ending injury. Is this the breakout Notre Dame has been anxiously awaiting?
